What are the mainstream thoughts on the best ways to build muscle these days?

My favorite line from the above article:
"These organizations are catching on to what many trainers and body builders have known for years--that no matter what your age, regular strength training builds up more than just muscles; it builds a healthier body."

By "organizations" the article is referring to American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association. It proves true over and over again, serious bodybuilders map the course of fitness/health for the mainstream. If you want to know what the mainstream fitness advice of tomorrow will be, simply watch what the serious natural trainers are doing today.

The reason? Serious trainers pay close attention to all the variables that affect them. They track everything they do. They don't have hidden agendas, they simply want to improve themselves. It's a much quicker way to determine what is best than waiting on the results of multiple placebo-controlled, double-blind studies.
